Seasons Greetings

I've been writing my Holiday cards and a few phrases I find myself repeating (other than the trite but appropriate Seasons Greetings) are:

I miss you...
Can't wait to see you...
I wish we could have been there...

And I've just had this big wave of acceptance wash over me this week. Last year was all exciting and new but this year is my second Christmas in Chicago; my second thanksgiving, New Year, and birthday. I live here. And I'm not going back to Denver any time soon. I'd been resisting it, but I finally accept that I live in Chicago now, and the plan is to stay in Chicago for a very long time.

I'll forever be missing you, waiting to see you, wishing I could be there.

Very cool post...I had the same realization this year...San Diego is in my future, but not right now and maybe not for a long time...I am embracing my current situation and making it my home.

    Good philosophy!

I have no profound thoughts except that I like this post.

    Thank you for visiting.

I know exactly how you feel. Last year I was in school, and new to Chicago, and everything was up in the air. Now I live here, for the foreseeable future, and I need to stop romanticizing Texas and wishing I was back there instead. I'm happy to be in Chicago; this is where I live.

Romanticizing is maybe the best way to put it.

Nothing profound here---just sorry you're missing so many. I'm sure they miss you, too.

No worries, this wasn't really meant to be a sad post, wistful maybe.

I feel the same way. Luckily I'll be able to head back to Minnesota for a few days this month. This time of the year always makes me misty for the ones I love.
