The Plants

You know we love our furry buddies in Eisenbergia. You may not know that we love our green, oxygen producing buddies too. To date we have twelve plants, all miraculously thriving. We aren't the kind of people who talk to our plants, but we did name them all- it helps keep track of them.

It seems like no matter where you look in our home you see a plant or six. And I like it that way. In fact, Josh has to restrain me, or else I'd probably come home with another plant every time we left the house.

It only makes sense then, that when I wanted to practice sketching with charcoal this weekend I decided to use two of our plants as subjects for a couple of spontaneous still lifes.

First, our huge peace lily, Peggy.

And second our crazy, fern thing Brunhilde.

These are two of my views from my spot on the couch in the living room. Lovely.

Nice drawings. Calling a fern Brunhilde cracks me up!! And I seem to remember a blog video of Josh singing to a tomato plant??

I love plants. Alas, I have a black thumb. I just bought a bunch of new plants and am in the process of trying not to kill them all. I've named my plants too. I hope they make it.

I love plants. I also name mine. I was up to 13 at one point but had to leave many behind when I moved to Chicago. I'm slowly but surely growing the collection again.

Twelve!! That's amazing! I only ever managed to have a high point of two - and managed to "love" them a little too much and sent them to watery graves :( I love having greenery around, though. My house is full of faux trees and vines :)

Your sketches are great! I have a long history of killing my plants. But now that I have a husband with an Agronomy degree, there is hope in sight. My rosemary plant has lived 6 months so I almost feel ready to replace with my fake palm with a real one.
