Oh yeah, I’m pregnant. Sometimes I need to remind myself. Obviously I’m sick, but that just feels like sick, and after a while you get used to feeling that way. Otherwise all the excitement and glee and anticipation I felt with Henry has been replaced with I don’t know, apathy? I just have more pressing things to keep me busy now. Gosh, if we ever have a third that poor kid won’t get any fan fare!
Don’t get me wrong, we are thrilled (and terrified) to be having another kiddo, but last time we couldn’t wait to shop, register, talk about names, decorate the nursery. This time we’re just sort of like “meh, we’ll get to it.” We’ve talked about a couple new things we’d like to get for the baby, and I found a midwife and birth center I’m comfortable with in the beginning, but there is just no urgency.
Even HG is different this time around. Last time I couldn’t eat anything without throwing up but dehydration wasn’t a huge problem, this time I can get away with simple carbs but I can hardly drink any fluids without getting sick. Things are starting to turn around and I’m starting to have good days and more good foods too.
Oddly enough the two things I can eat every time without getting sick and without getting sick of them are my dad’s pork green chili and Tea and Cookies’ Kimchi Fried Rice (without the bacon, bacon is a no go). So I’m getting 100% of my protein from pork green chili and 100% of my vegetable intake is fermented cabbage. Weird, but whatever works.
15 weeks with Henry vs. 15 weeks with #2
As far as the bump is concerned, it’s definitely bigger earlier this time around. But what stands out to me a lot in these pics is how much smaller the rest of me is. My pants look so loose! They are loose! My maternity clothes are too big but I’m too cheap to buy new stuff. Oh well. I started this pregnancy a lot smaller than I started the first one. Hopefully this bodes well for my postpartum weight, I was a beast last time!

Thrilled for you that you’re expanding your family! Not thrilled that you’re feeling sick but you’re taking it in stride like a pro. You look beautiful! I love that baby # 1 has photos from a shiny SLR camera and baby #2 is quick and dirty camera phone (although the quality of the photo is great with a camera phone!). Thinking of you and sending you positive thoughts and hugs!
second pregnancies are such a bummer in that way – all my bump pics have been on my phone this time, the poor sonogram photos were literally tossed in the kitchen junk drawer, and I’ve had zero desire to buy any new fun maternity clothes. I think it’s this way for just about everyone – doesn’t mean I love this kid any less, just that I’ve been walking around with a been there done that feeling for 9 months.
Is it weird I feel like you were just posting that 15 week hen pic on the april board?
Already heard the news on Facebook but I’m so thrilled for you guys!
I didn’t think about being pregnant the second time until I was about 35 weeks, ready to rip him out with my bare hands.
I only just discovered that you’d moved back, sorry for not commenting on everything. I don’t like tumblr either.
I really hope this time around you’re not quite in such discomfort. Stay well xx
I lost you when you went to Tumblr…glad you are back. I followed you for a while, then had a 2nd of my own and everything got lost in the shuffle.
So so SO sorry about the HG again. I had it both times too…hopefully you will get some major relief in the coming weeks. I had HG the first time all the way to delivery with #1 but “only” until 30 weeks with #2. There is hope!
Good luck. You look great.
Hey, I just rediscovered your blog. I still had your old tumblr link in my google reader. Congrats on #2 -I also am expecting a #2 (I think your Hen and my C are only a few weeks apart). Hope the rest of your pregnancy is smooth and you kick the HG. Now that I found you again, I’m looking forward to your updates.
