I haven’t done an update for a while so here goes… Cop is amazing all of us!
He is so healthy we are very, very lucky.
He was cleared of any possible club foot by the ortho, so far his kidney function looks good, the Cardiologist last week was fantastic and he only had 2 small holes in his heart (one VSD, one other one that every baby has but his didn’t close, can’t remember the name) both are absolutely no big deal right now, he doesn’t even need antibiotics for simple procedures.
He does have some hearing loss, however it looks like it’s not nerve damage but fluid in his ears, we will treat it in 2 months time with antibiotics and move on to tubes at 6-9 months if the antibiotics are ineffective.
It sucks having so many doctors appointments, I feel like we are constantly in the car or a waiting room. Henry is a little trouper, though he does require some wrangling and the occasional bribe to keep it together. But even though it’s tough, it’s amazing getting all this good news. I know it won’t always be good news, but we’ll take it while we can get it.
It a humbling journey for me as well, Henry was almost never sick, so the only time we saw our (awesome) pediatrician was for vaccines and well visits. When we leave an appointment with Cop there’s always a “but.”
X looks good…. But lets see you in 2/4/6/12 months for a follow up/to check on Y.
Routine appointments are going to be our way of life from now on, so we are doing the work to find great doctors who know their stuff.
